Anyone been on a fly-drive holiday to Chile?

Camping Hotels
Sue C asked:

We would like to arrange our own fly-drive holiday to Chile (we speak Spanish so that’s not a problem). We’d be very interested to hear from anyone who’s done this – or anyone else who’s travelled through Chile on their own or as a couple. We’re NOT planning to backpack or camp out but stay in reasonably priced hotels or pensions. Any advice is welcome.

yes it’s cold, I dream with the caribbean all the time… but it’s a safe and a beautiful country on his own way.
These sites have a lot of information (in english)=
but we -’the natives’- use this local guide (in spanish)=

    Local airlines:

I don’t recommend rent-a-cars in chile, they are the same International companies everywhere (budget, avis, alamo, etc) at higher prices than international prices (US$400 for one weekToyota Yaris Sport in budget.cl )
We have a very reliable bus-system that runs through the country, like=

Don’t spend your time in Santiago and focuses in the Atacama Desert, Chilean Patagonia, Pumalin Park and least but not last: Eastern Island

    Saludos!

ps. Backpackers and campers are welcome also…
