Camping in Austin, TX?

We want to take my brother to Austin for his b-day in August but we are too broke to pay for a hotel! We’ve got camping equipment and thought about going camping to Mc Kinney Falls park since its close to the city. Is it worth it? All suggestions are welcome!!

    You might also consider Emma Long Metropolitan Park, it’s on Lake Austin and may be closer to the city than McKinney Falls. You’ll need to book ahead due to its popularity.
