The only place I know of where you can tent camp inside San Antonio is the KOA on Gembler Road. Outside of San Antonio you have several choices, most of which are state parks. Guadalupe River State Park is probably the closest to San Antonio, but it’s still 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio. There are some campgrounds located in New Braunfels, but again, it’s not in or particularly near San Antonio. Google “tent camping San Antonio” and you will get quite a few hits. November is actually a pretty good time to camp, because it isn’t so hot, but keep an eye on the weather anyway. Rains have been fairly impressive around San Antonio lately.

    Good luck!
