going to take a two week road trip through colorado with my family. we are from Texas. some nights we will camp and some nights will be staying in hotels. one of our first stops will be mesa verde. i can’t find a lot of info about camping there. Is it a good place to camp or are we better off hoteling there and camp at some of the other national parks?
I have small kids ages 5 and 7, so that are not much help in carrying gear. If you camp there do you have to walk far from the parking lot to the campsites? Is there shade at the campsites?
sorry to repost this question but i’m stuck. a friend and i want to go camping, free if possible. we live in modesto but are willing to travel around the stockton area… well a radius of about 35-40 miles from modesto to outlying areas. if anyone knows of any spots please let me know. alt of these camping areas charge day and night usage. after you add everything up we might as well spring for a room at a hotel or something lol
thanks in advance!

relax chris lol yes i do appreciate the answer you gave in my other topic. Problem is that i have very little money at the moment to be driving around trying to find a secret hiding spot. Honestly i know very little about going around the river trying to find the spots, i don’t drive. My friend is the one who will be driving so i’m trying to find a general area. i do appreciate your response, so don’t think i don’t.
I remember when i was a little kid and we just pulled up somewhere to camp. Now i seems like it all costs money which blows… oh well :p
In March, my boyfriend and I are planning on using our Spring Break to go Beach camping [much cheaper than vacationing at a hotel].
We have the place picked out at Cumberland Island, Georgia [http://www.nps.gov/cuis/index.htm] but it’s been a while since I’ve gone camping and neither of us has had the previous pleasure of beach camping.
I’ve done some google researches but haven’t found much. I really just want some how-tos or what-to-brings on going camping for roughly four to five days on the beach. What tent to bring, what food and how to cook it, what things we can do, etc.
Thanks in advance for any advice or helpful websites!
my kids have been in a hotel and i took them camping when they were small but they dont remember that and we want to go to the banff in alberta witch one should we go in a hotel or camping
Alright! I am a very girlie girl when it comes to sleeping outside on the grounf. Yet my soon to be husband loves to go camping. My first and last time camping was not that great. Soooooo What can i do to make this a good camping future trip as i may say for the both of us? Rent a hotel and have him set up a tent in middle of the floor(might not be a bad idea)
it will be me and another female. we simply cant afford a hotel ev nite, plus we like to camp and want to have some adventures.
my concern is not really about bears and the like, and more for fear of murderers and rapists and robbers. (i know i prob sound paranoid, i watch tou much tv i suppose…)
im street smart and have camped numerous times. the idea of being so far from anything familiar is prob what makes me worry.
tips for saying safe and not so paranoid?
we’re leaving in august
How do I get ready to use it? Do you only light pilot light when you get to campsite? I see elect & water hookups—what about the sewer drain?
Where is hot water heater? Does water fill some tank inside and do I empty it before I drive home?
I need to know alot, but I am interested in trying to go camping…..always used hotels or condos.
