Me and a mate are planning on going to Europe for six months and plan to backpack, how much do you think it will cost. We are mainly wanting to camp and maybe some hostels but no luxury hotels.

Leaving from a major airport in the States, spending a total of 2 weeks overseas, a little over a week in the UK and about 5 days in France and Italy combined. Staying in nice hotels not camping or hostels (not overly fancy, but clean and comfortable, equivalent to Marriott 3 star standard for instance)

Camping/Cabins in Croatia?

platinumforests asked:

Hi! I want to stay in Croatia for a few days, specifically near Hvar. All of the hotels seem to be booked as this is the busy season, so my friend and I thought cabins may be cheaper and more interesting. We looked into the various campsites, but everyone looks on top of each other, and privacy is very important to me.

Can anyone point me to web sites for cabins (or even tent sites, as long as its safe and your nearest neighbor isn’t breathing down your neck) near or on the ocean?

Thanks!!!!

Camping in Iceland help?

Melorious asked:

Hey, I have been looking around a bit and have decided that camping in Iceland would be really cool and much cheaper than staying at hotels. I have a rough list of things I want to see in Iceland so was wondering if anyone else has camped there and might know some good sites to camp on and any possible addresses/phone numbers. Would be staying there for about ten days at a guess, it doesnt matter how basic it is. All I need is a pitch and some water.
I will be going probably around easter time, fully aware that the weather might be shocking, but have camped a few times in scotland in early winter, should imagine they are about the same conditions at worst, am really just looking for some farmers numbers or a place where i can get the farmers numbers and or cheap camp sites that people have used before.

Which European tour company should we choose?

queen_bee0042 asked:

My friend and I are trying to plan a trip to Europe this summer. We are both 18, fresh out of high school, and neither of us has ever been to Europe.
We want to go on a 1-2 week tour with people around our age that either stays in the UK (England, Wales, etc) or hits the major cities of Europe (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Venice, etc).
The thing is, we have no idea which tour company to choose! We’ve heard both good and bad things about Topdeck and Contiki, but I have a feeling there are lesser-known companies that would give great and affordable tours.
Also, although we don’t have a ton of money, we’d rather stay away from hostels/camping trips, etc. Hotels would be preferable. If the tour in question includes airfare in the price as well, that would be great.

So our question is, what tour company would you recommend? Is there one you’ve been on that gave you a great experience, or one you would recommend we stay away from? Thanks for the help!

New to French camping – how and where to book?

Stevie asked:

Hi
I live in SE England and for cost saving reasons, feel a week or two camping in France might be less costly than a hotel. Is there an online site that gives the costs and facilities? I would be driving myself but could fly if this proved cheaper.
Many thanks
TJ
