Well you would consider that you are guest of the innkeeper, so house rules may apply as well as state and local laws.
Self defense would mean that you took prudent care to arm yourself and protect others, so use common sense, or better!
Yes you can have a gun in you hotel room just like in your home. You do not need a licence to carry to have a gun in your home or hotel.
Who cares, nobody is gonna know anyway if you keep it hidden and dont say anything. I take my gun everywhere, and nobody knows.
