thepalersailor asked:
The night before I leave for boot camp I’ll be staying at a hotel. Should I wear the same clothes for those last couple days, or change what do people regularly do.

Bring as little as possible! Trust me the more you bring the more you’ll have to carry while being yealled at.
Bring a change of clothes, hygienic supplies, underwear etc. Don’t bring too much though. A Backpack is fine just as long as it’s not bulky because they’re going to give you pounds of more stuff to carry and you’ll be walking… a lot.
Just bring a change of clothes, and maybe a toothbrush. The second or third day that you’re there they’ll issue you everything you could possibly need.
My advice. Bring a backpack that’s way bigger than you need. You’ll have loads of stuff after basic and you can’t fit it all into your one duffel bag that they give you.
If you mean USMC boot camp do not bring any back pack or change of clothes..
I do not know about the other branches..
I seem to recall that I threw out some of the stuff I had and other stuff was held until I finished boot camp. I spent an unexpected night in a hotel and was at boot camp for another day or two before I was issued uniforms – I would have liked to have had a change of clothes!
Keep it small, but take some essentials (underwear, toothbrush, maybe an extra t-shirt and a change of socks). Be prepared to just toss all this stuff if circumstances require it – don’t take anything expensive or with sentimental value. It could be less of a hassle to just toss the stuff and you could do it with no regrets.
Good luck!
I remember that time in my life… the hotel stay right before BT and all! It was a pretty cool experience to tell you the truth. About your question, bring two changes of clothing tops. By the second or third day at BT your will be given EVERYTHING you will need. They literially take care of you making sure you have everything you need… the military becomes your mommy and your daddy. They’ll provide the roof over your head, the money in your pocket, what you wear, instruction on how to eat, bathe, sleep and $h!t…. literally!
I like the idea of throw away clothing the above poster stated. Great idea!!
Here is a good website I found
Daniel
Everything you bring into that gate to start your training.
Will be donated to charity. Leave cell and laptop at home.
You will be standing outside, stripped of all your clothes, you
have now, down to your birthday suit. And bee issued all new
ones. Compliments of the U.S. Military.
You will even be issued a new comb, and a toothbrush.
You are now Officially Government Property.
Yes, they don’t care what you bring your clothes in.
They just lock it up, untill after basic.
They do not throw your stuff away or donate it to charity.
If you bring banned items, depending on what they are.
They might take them.
IE: a pocket knife.
But if you bring extra clothes, a cell phone, alarm clock, etc.
They just lock up your suitcase, in your case back pack, untill you graduate.
Actually it is smart to bring more than they tell you.
If you enter basic in oct, it will be cold by the time you graduate and get to AIT.
So you will need a jacket, when you can start wearing your civies.
You will need an alarm clock, etc.
depends on what branch you join. In the navy what ever you bring (civilian clothes and what not) are sent home at your cost or donated to charity. In the other branches i think they hold that stuff for you untill you get out. bring only one change of clothes. you can alternate until they give you a uniform and you wont see the civi’s till your out
The navy will donate things to charity. they STRONGLY suggest that you send your stuff home though. But they make you pay for it. so i’d pack light
They should supply you with one, they do in most military anyhow throughout the world
My boyfriend had to stay at a hotel too before he left and he only had his wallet and his clothes so you don’t really need to take anything once you get ther they supply you with everything. and of course they search you too to make sure you aren’t bringing in anything you’re not supposed to.
