Is there anywhere you can do camping in Cancun?

    I think there is a nice snake pit not far off the beaten path, Scorpions are nice in refridgerator boxes. If you don’t want to spend money, stay home.

    If I recall, in Tulum (which is to the south of Cancun) there were a few places full of hippies and Europeans that had reasonable camping. Hope the big developers haven’t swallowed them yet. In Cancun itself I believe there is a youth hostel, that might be the cheapest option there.

    If you want to save money I would stay away from Cancun itself. There are lots of cheap and beautiful places to visit in the rest of the Yucutan. Not a lot of campgrounds, but the hotels might be cheaper than camping would be in the US. I’d go the library and check out a budget guidebook like Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, or Let’s Go.
