HotelsCombined.com is a unique search engine that consumers can use to find hotel availability and rates, and to compare prices and offers from multiple merchants. Using our service, travelers no longer have to search websites one by one to find the best deals and lowest rates. Once you find the supplier suitable for your needs, we link you through to the supplier website to book directly.

Camp grounds at the beaches booked up months ago. You can find a beach with fire rings that's open till around 10pm yahoo search fire ring sites at the beach. Weekends and summer nights these get grabbed early in the morning and people claim them all day so find a volunteer to sit on one for you. I recommend Huntington Beach.

I presume you must live in the US ... the cheapest flights to the UK are usually either to Heathrow or Gatwick, the two biggest international airports ... I doubt you would find a flight to anywhere else to be cheaper, but you could check out Manchester to see what the price is ... the reason the tickets are expensive is more likely to be because you're looking at peak season summertime, travelling off-peak could be more competitive not only for flights but also for accommodation

the alternatives to hotels are hostels or B&B (bed & breakfast) ... there are loads of hostels of varying quality ... there's some information on accommodation, as well as other stuff about London, on

camping is definitely an option if you're prepared to carry all the equipment with you, although this could be a bit of a problem with your luggage allowance on flights ... have a look at ... in England you are not allowed to camp just anywhere ... if you wanted to buy some cheap camping equipment when you land in the UK you could check out although I've noticed some of the supermarkets (e.g. Tesco, Sainsbury) sometimes do cheap sleeping bags and tents at the moment ... the biggest problem on camping is that the campsites are not always that accessible by public transport ... were you planning on hiring a car?

Many MANY women enjoy camping, it's a very poor generalization to lump us all together. I know several men who wouldn't go camping if you paid them. I really don't think it's a gender thing, it's a genetic thing.

Maybe you should identify something she would like to do and tell her that if she lets her guard down and really tries to enjoy a night of camping, that you will go do something she likes to do (that you typically don't enjoy). AND, when she does agree to go with you, make sure you invite her for a relaxing walk on the beach for just the two of you. Don't ignore her. Do this often enough, and she may want to camp with you again!
